The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Uganda participated in the School of Business Administration (SBA) Distance Career Guidance event at Nkumba University, engaging students on career opportunities, professional development and the evolving landscape of transport, logistics and supply chain management.

The engagement formed part of CILT Uganda’s commitment to strengthening the connection between academia, industry and the professional community, while supporting the development of future professionals in the sector.

Students gained practical insights into career pathways across transport, logistics and supply chain management, as well as the knowledge, skills and competencies required to succeed in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected industry.

CILT Uganda emphasised the importance of continuous professional development, professional certification, practical industry exposure, leadership and lifelong learning in building sustainable careers. Students were encouraged to complement their academic qualifications with professional development and industry engagement to strengthen their career readiness and long-term professional growth.

The engagement also highlighted the strategic role of transport, logistics and supply chain management in Uganda’s economic and social development. Efficient and resilient logistics systems support the movement of essential goods, healthcare supplies, agricultural products and industrial inputs, while enabling trade, manufacturing and wider economic activity.

For students and emerging professionals seeking to build careers in the sector, CILT provides opportunities for professional development, industry engagement and lifelong learning through membership, professional qualifications, networking, knowledge sharing and continuing professional development.

CILT Uganda appreciates Nkumba University for its warm hospitality and for creating a platform that brings academia and the professional community closer together. Stronger collaboration between universities, professional bodies and industry is essential in helping students connect academic learning with workplace expectations and make informed career decisions.

As the professional body advancing excellence in transport and logistics, CILT Uganda remains committed to developing a competent, ethical, innovative and future-ready professional community. Through continued engagement with universities and emerging professionals, the Institute seeks to inspire talent, promote professional standards and contribute to building a globally competitive transport, logistics and supply chain workforce in Uganda and beyond.
